This recipe is from

The hard-shell taco has almost become an icon for Mexican food in the United States, and the following recipe will only serve to increase its popularity.

Ingredients

12 corn tortillas, or ready-made hard taco shells

15 oz. V&V SUPREMO® PORK OR BEEF CHORIZO, cooked. (see “Cooking V&V SUPREMO® CHORIZO”)

1½ cups refried beans

8. 8 oz. pkg. V&V SUPREMO® QUESO FRESCO or V&V SUPREMO® QUESO *RANCHERITO®, crumbled

1 cup V&V SUPREMO® CREMA SUPREMO® or V&V SUPREMO® CREMA *RANCHERITO® sour cream

1 cup tomatoes, chopped

¼ cup cilantro, chopped

vegetable oil for frying

Preparation

  1. If using corn tortillas, place enough oil to deep fry in a saucepan over medium heat. Heat oil for 3-4 minutes or  until it reaches 350 degrees. Place each tortilla in a metal taco press, and fry until crispy. Place finished shells on paper towels to drain the excess oil.
  2. Spoon some beans, and cooked chorizo into each tortilla. Add sour cream and cheese.

SERVING: Top with tomatoes and cilantro.
